According to Government claims, the renewable power target of 175 GW by 2022 will result in abatement of 326.22 million metric tonne of CO2 equivalent per year. India’s target is challenging, considering the past track record and complex issues involved. However, the recent initiatives and performance in 2015-16 give hope.
